Warrnambool Library’s Birthday Book Adventure celebrates 80 years of the CBCA

Warrnambool Library and the Children’s Book Council of Australia are throwing a Birthday Book Adventure, and you’re invited! Join them for stories, cake and Children’s Book Week fun as they celebrate 80 years of the CBCA.

On Saturday 23 August at 11 am, the Library will burst into life with book character costumes, award-winning stories, hands-on activities and a big birthday cheer. Guests are encouraged to dress as their favourite book characters and enjoy a morning celebrating the 2025 CBCA Book of the Year winners, with the chance to explore and purchase shortlisted and winning titles thanks to Collins Booksellers.

The party will be officially opened by Cr Vicki Jellie, who will read from one of the winning books before leading the Happy Birthday cheer and cake cutting. From there, the fun continues with Storytime and Nature Craft with local author and CBCA member Tania Moloney (Nurture in Nature), 80 cupcakes for 80 years, face painting and creative activities for the whole family.
